B. Refreshing Surveys

FRF is always working to improve our operations, both in the field and at headquarters (HQ). Part of this process is continuously refining our Survey123 surveys to reflect lessons learned on mission and better capture the information needed. Therefore, to ensure that responders have the most up-to-date templates, we ask all FRF Response Team members “refresh” the surveys – i.e. download updated versions of the surveys on their devices – before each deployment.

For this tutorial, you will use three specifically-tailored training surveys:

The process for downloading training surveys is the same as the process for downloading the surveys you will use on deployment. However, if you are downloading surveys for training purposes only, you do not need to refresh or delete any earlier survey versions, and should therefore skip step 2.

1. Open the Survey123 app on your mobile device (Android users must complete these steps before opening the app)

2. Click on a survey on your device (represented by the logos below) and press the Menu button (see icon to the right) at the top right of your screen and select Delete Survey. Do this step for all the surveys on your device.

3. On the main page, click the SK icon (see icon to the right) at the top right of the screen, then select Download Surveys. Download the following surveys*:

*if you are downloading surveys for training purposes, download the training surveys listed at the top of the page.

ANDROID USERS: If you have an Android, Survey123 needs permission to access the storage of your mobile device. Before downloading any surveys, please:

a. Go to Apps > Manage Apps > Survey123 > App Permissions

b. Under App Permissions, enable Storage

c. Uninstall and reinstall Survey123

d. Open the app and when prompted to enable Survey123 to access photos, media and files, click ALLOW
