Fuel Relief Fund Responds to Winter Storm Fern
In February 2026, as Winter Storm Fern swept through rural northern Mississippi, freezing temperatures and power outages left many families without heat, electricity, or the ability to cook. In communities where resources were already limited, the need was immediate—and urgent.
When the United Cajun Navy reached out, Fuel Relief Fund mobilized quickly.
Working alongside their team on the ground, we began delivering propane to distribution sites they had established across the region. These sites became critical hubs, allowing us to efficiently reach families in need and get fuel into the hands of those facing dangerous conditions. With the support of AmeriGas, who fulfilled our propane order in less than 48 hours, we were able to move quickly and get fuel delivered to these sites without delay.
In just a few days, over 1,035 propane tanks were distributed to communities including the Paducah Wells Volunteer Fire Department, Yalobusha County, Potts Camp, Benton County, and Hickory Flat.
Each tank represented more than just fuel—it meant a warm home, a hot meal, and a sense of relief during an uncertain time.
In disasters like Winter Storm Fern, fuel is essential. It powers generators, provides heat in freezing temperatures, and allows families to cook food and boil water. It also ensures first responders and volunteers can continue their work, reaching those who need help most. Fuel keeps communities moving forward when everything else slows down.
This response was made possible through strong partnerships and the support of those who believe in our mission. By working alongside the United Cajun Navy, AmeriGas, and local partners, we were able to quickly reach remote and underserved areas and deliver immediate, tangible relief.
We are proud to stand with these communities and remain committed to providing fuel in times of crisis.
